Chigwell occurs as suburban development in the Epping Forest district of Essex.
Chigwell is Eleven.Captain hicks miles (Xviii.Heptad kilometer) n east of Charing Cross and near a boundary by having a London Borough of Redbridge. These are served by the London Underground station and has the London (020) region code.
Traditionally the rural agricultural community, Chigwell was mentioned in the Domesday Book and later lauded by Charles Dickens in the novel Barnaby Rudge where a Maypole Inn is said to use at times been according to the village's King's Head public house. Charles Dickens late install home around Chigwell & in a period of his stay described it when "the finest place on earth".
From either 1933 to 1974 it formed together with Buckhurst Hill and Loughton the Chigwell Urban District.
Chigwell at present has numerous big suburban houses like people in Manor Road which featured in the popular English situation comedy Birds of a Feather.
